Summary Annual Report For Health and Welfare Plans
For Wabash Memorial Hospital Association Health Insurance Plans
This is a summary of the annual report of the Wabash Memorial Hospital Association, 37-0806462 for the
Health Insurance Plan for the year ended December 31, 2001. The annual report has been filed with the Internal
Revenue Service, as required under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA). Wabash
Memorial Hospital Association has committed itself to pay certain hospital, surgical and dental claims incurred under the
terms of the plan.
Basic Financial Statement:
The value of plan assets, after subtracting liabilities of the plan, was $2,855,635 as
of December 31, 2001, compared to $4,035,284 as of January 1, 2001. During the plan year, the plan experienced
a decrease in its net assets of $1,179,649. This decrease includes unrealized appreciation or depreciation in the value
of plan assets; that is, the difference between the value of the plan's assets at the end of the year and the value of
the assets at the beginning of the year or the cost of assets acquired during the year. During the plan year, the plan
had total income of $11,222,578. This included employee contributions of $3,749,917, employer contributions
of $5,919,463, reimbursement payments of $1,714,880 and realized gains from interest
earned of $207,292, and unrealized losses on investment of ($368,974).
Plan expenses were $12,408,227. These expenses included $643,399 in administrative expenses, $11,106,766 in
benefits paid to participants and beneficiaries, and $652,062 in other expenses.
